The Old Forester 2015 Birthday Bourbon is a remarkable edition from the brand’s highly anticipated annual release, celebrating the birthday of the distillery’s founder, George Garvin Brown. This 2015 iteration boasts a unique profile shaped by an extended fermentation process and a strategic maturation regime. The prolonged six-day fermentation allowed for a deeper, more complex development of flavors before the spirit entered the barrel.
Once barreled, the whiskey benefited from a dynamic aging environment. Located near a window and beside a heat cycling duct within the warehouse, the barrels were exposed to significant temperature fluctuations. This exposure to high heat enhanced the interaction between the wood and the spirit, accelerating the maturation and imbuing the bourbon with an intense concentration of wood-derived flavors.
Aroma: Orange-tinted honey. Layers of oak, both resinous and toasted, merge with a medley of tobacco leaf, dry herbs and nut character.
Taste: Warm mulled spice and nutty spice notes, all subtly sweetened with a touch of honey.
